Changing leadership behaviour for Social Care team managers

Children’s Services, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council

As part of their improvement strategy, the Children and Families Service, contracted us to deliver training, 360o leadership diagnostic and 1:1 coaching across six months.

What the client asked for

The programme was structured around developing Emotional intelligence. It covered content such as group dynamics, managing change, influencing, managing difficult conversations and workplace coaching skills.

The results

The client and participants told us that the programme has led to vastly improved relationships, and better ways of working.

“Formation’s programme for our team managers has been authentic, and extremely valuable. What has been particularly good, is that it has given our team managers a shared understanding and expectations of the role of a team manager, as well the tools and methods to make this a reality. The programme has created a supportive network of staff, each of whom have bought into the cultural changes that the service wants to make. The pre-programme diagnostic gave managers a clear idea of the impact that they have on their teams and services users; and has enabled them to make positive changes to their behaviours. Working with Formation has been brilliant. They have been a pleasure to work with. Their wrap around service alongside the training has made a difference for us. In particular, the data they provided on the impact of training, which the senior team has been able to use to address continuing service challenges.”
